Marcel Verstraete

Technology that works for every student.

I’m Marcel Verstraete, an assistive technology consultant specializing in students with physical and orthopedic impairments, from birth to age 26, helping them access the curriculum.

I specialize in assistive technology for students with physical and orthopedic impairments, from birth through age 26, supporting learners at every stage from early intervention through K–12 and on to post-secondary transition. I work alongside students, families, teachers, and IEP teams to find, trial, and implement the tools that help each student access the curriculum.

Away from that work, I run Nomad Detroit Coffee, a small-batch roasting company.

At home I answer to three cats: Carrot, Pickle, and Cheddar. They supervise every roast and most of my paperwork.

Assistive Technology Consulting Students Birth–26

Assistive technology that helps students with physical and orthopedic impairments access the curriculum. I work with school teams on AT consideration and decision-making, trials of alternative access methods like switch use and eye gaze, implementation planning and data collection, and the training and coaching that build district capacity.
